What is Google Material Design and Why is it Important?
According to Google, material design is a concept of changing the way people give and receive information. The company states on its website that it is a way of combining art and technology to adapt to changing human needs. Material design uses visual cues to help people communicate more easily. It is based on the evolution of technology. There are many components involved in creating affective material design. All of these components must work in conjunction in order to provide the most productive design available and allow people to communicate in a way that they have never been able to before.

Motion is Imperative

Motion is one of the key components of Mobile Material Design. It is imperative because it helps people pay attention to the information they are receiving. It also helps them to maintain that level of attention for an extended period of time. Motion is used to help people focus more intently on the information that they are looking at and thus helps them retain this information more accurately. However, the user is the sole individual in control of this information and by inputs that are provided by the individual, information can be provided in a more concise manner to help that person retain the information more accurately.

The system adapts by changing colors and graphics according to user input. Simply put, the system utilizes visual cues that are a direct result of the user input to help the individual remain focused on the information that is at hand. It constantly adapts according to these inputs in order to help people communicate more effectively and retain information better.

The System Uses a Bold Design

This helps people maintain focus and makes the information presented appear more clear to individuals that are trying to retain it. In much the same way that a bold design would attract someone’s attention to a website or even to a sign for a business, bold design that is incorporated with material design helps people become more focused on what they are looking at during any given time.

Everything is Based on a Single Design

Everything is organized into its most basic form from the beginning. It is then transformed by the user. This is accomplished by taking into account the user inputs and then allowing the system to change the design of graphics or colors as the information is presented. This makes it easier for people to communicate in a more customized way and facilitates a more complete experience for each user.

It truly combines attractive art that makes people want to pay attention with science and technology that simply was not available until recently. This creates a customizable system that learns how to adapt based on user inputs and then helps the individual work through material more quickly while simultaneously retaining more of the information that is digested. Even in its infancy, this system is able to facilitate more effective communication and help people learn and work in ways that were only imagined before.
